    Systems and Software Engineer

    Manchester City Centre, Northern Quarter

    Linux / C / Python / CI / CD / Build / Open source


    As a member of the engineering department at Codethink, you can expect to work on a wide variety of challenging software projects for our global client base, spanning across different industries. You will be part of a friendly department of experts, who have developed a reputation for delivering projects to incredibly high standards.

    We are looking for the following skills & capabilities:

    • Must be/become comfortable using a Linux desktop and working with free and open source software (FOSS).

    • Must be able to demonstrate intellect and intelligence, via academic achievement and/or other means.

    • Must be capable of dealing with pressure, uncertainty and deadlines.

    • Must demonstrate both willingness and ability to grasp new technical concepts.

    • Experience of some/all of the following technologies that we work with: Linux, C/C++, C#, Python, Java, device drivers, embedded, git.

    • May have experience of configuring CI/CD pipelines, build tools, SW deployment etc.

    In your role at Codethink, you’ll have a number of responsibilities. These include:

    • Participate in all phases of the full software development life-cycle

    • Write well designed, testable, efficient code

    • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility

    • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system

    • Develop software test and verification plans and procedures

    • Tailor and deploy software tools, processes and metrics

    • Follow project plans and industry standards

    Flexibility for international travel to client sites is expected where reasonable.
