    Ruby developer for an innovative e-learning platform

    We are looking for someone that can help us building a great e-learning platform! Are you a good Ruby programmer who, besides good programming, also has a feeling for the e-learning market? And do you want to help children and students to give them the tools the need to study fast and efficient? Then we are looking for you!

    For years, WRTS has been the largest and best-known online hearing program in the Netherlands! With 400,000 users per month, we have been making sure everyone can learn words quickly and easily for 15 years. Our users are mainly in high schools (12 to 15 years).

    We have a pleasant team of 8 people who are all helping to improve the platform for our users. We talk a lot with our target group to see how we can get a little better every day. There is a lot of room for (creative) input and we are therefore looking for someone who is enthusiastic about our product. We want to improve education and believe that the use of digital learning tools will increase more and more in the near future.

    It is up to us as a team to let users learn as quickly and effectively as possible!

    Your role

    In this role you will get the opportunity to work within a team of 3 great developers who are building the WRTS platform to offer students (12-18 yo) to learn vocabulary at home and in the classroom.

    For the near future we already created cool concept roadmap with some nice functionalities which can help our users with different courses. You will work in a small team of developers, working closely with Product Owners, using agile scrum methodology with 2-week sprints.

    Your typical day at work will involve

    • Building cool end-to-end features that contribute to growing the WRTS platform

    • Taking part in standups and UX/UI meetings

    • Testing your features and being fully responsible for them when they go live;

    • Troubleshooting live issues


    • Have experience with Ruby on Rails, HTML5/JavaScript

    • Are a team player, able to communicate across disciplines

    • Enjoy taking ownership and responsibility for putting features live independently

    How you fit our Development team

    • A Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree (computer science is a pre)

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Ruby on Rails

    • The ability to write clean and maintainable code, following standards and guidelines

    • Experience writing automated tests
