    Job Description Summary

    Groupon is seeking a Business Analyst who will be helping us design, manage and scale real time monitoring, EDW reporting and analytics solutions. We are looking for someone who loves to observe data and is keen to identify patterns that could potentially impact our service to customers and merchants. If you have a background in reporting and analytics, experience in logging tools and are curious to know how can we leverage real time monitoring to improve operational efficiency and customer/merchant experience, we are looking for you!

    Groupon is seeking a Business Analyst for Katowice location. The candidate will be responsible for obtaining and analyzing data to improve operational efficiency, designing, sustaining and scaling reports and ensuring the data and metrics we rely on are complete and accurate. They will work with multiple departments to understand factors that impact customer and Merchant service KPI.


    • Enable and empower data consumers to react faster to an event

    • Identify correlations for a KPI, set up monitoring for correlated metrics

    • Diagnose, flag and alert issues before they create a snowball effect

    • Organize and monitor log aggregation to ensure all applications are properly logging and examined for signs of an incident

    • Create dashboards and custom queries to search for abnormal activity or research known events

    • Designs, implements, and configures Kibana visualizations as required per business initiative

    • Will be responsible for scoping, creating, sustaining and improving a critical reporting infrastructure using data from different sources and in different formats

    • Support a product end to end using real time monitoring, reporting and post launch analytics

    • Translate stakeholder’s requirements into reporting deliverables and sync up to customize reports to achieve maximum adoption

    • Ensure data integrity and validate as necessary to deliver accurate reporting to business stakeholders

    • The role requires working with a wide variety of colleagues across different functions and strong stakeholder management skills are important

    • Proactively identify optimization in current reporting infrastructure

    • Ability to be self-driven and proactive in handling requests, seeking input from others as needed and clarifying requests with business stakeholders


    • Proficient with Elastic Stack components, especially Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana

    • Good understanding of event logging from different devices or applications

    • Experience with large-scale log aggregation and SIEM technologies. ELK stack preferred

    • Ability to identify unusual behavior and potential threats via log analysis

    • Basic understanding of Client and Server logging

    • Familiar with Elastic Stack version 6.x

    • 1+ years of work experience in Query DSL

    • Experience with Python/R is preferred

    • Experience with regression, classification, clustering and time series analysis

    • Experience with manipulating multiple sources of data to analyze correlations on key performance indicators across multiple dimensions (sales, customer contact, search interest, website visits and clickstream activity)

    • 3+ years work experience in SQL

    • 3+ years work experience in any RDBMS (Teradata, MS SQL server, MYSQL)

    • 3+ years experience with any of the data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microstrategy, Qlikview. Tableau preferred

    • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data

    • Excellent oral and written communications skills and the confidence to ask questions / seek clarification from stakeholders on requests

    • Natural curiosity and self-drive to understand the broader business in order to provide the appropriate reporting support
