We’re looking for an Associate Technical Architect, who will advocate our digital and application strategy to join our Architect team that we’re building in the Digital Service at the Department for Transport (DfT). These are challenging and exciting roles as we modernise services relied upon by millions of people.

The Architecture team will consist of a number of digital, data technology and security architects that shape and own the strategies and policies to support DfT with their expertise in a variety of technology areas. The Digital Architect will work closely with multiple Digital Service projects and initiatives that require broad architectural thinking.
As the Associate Technical Architect, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining DfT’s digital and application architecture. You will support the production of the DfT family’s digital, data and technology strategy. Lead, develop and apply DfT’s digital and application architecture strategies, policies and standards. You will support the development of the business cases and lead high-level architectural designs.
Role purpose includes but is not limited to:
• Collaborating with the business relationship management team to determine the organisational needs, translating into technical requirements and designing digital solutions that are optimised for the future.
• Defining and applying digital and application development principles, patterns, technologies and frameworks in conjunction with other technical leaders.
• Leading development teams during the project lifecycle, ensuring the solution is developed in accordance with the technical design and meeting their delivery targets.
• Making strategic design decisions.
We would love for you to have had experience of understanding digital concepts to engage with stakeholders and specialists, including the capability of making decisions proportionate to the level of technical complexity and risk. You will need to have experience in analysing and communicating vulnerable insight results. You are a highly organised and experienced Digital Architect who can define and assure best practice, help influence organisational strategy and priorities and manage a range of stakeholders.
